College of  Native American Culture (NAC) 

(16 classes)

Please note:  Participants may bring their own materials or purchase items from the NAC Trading Post.  The instructors will not sell materials for the classes.

NAC 11 Basic Outfitting with Integrity.  What is appropriate in your outfit for your style of dance or ceremony.
  12 Traditional dancing.  Elements of Traditional style dance steps, songs, and outfits.
  13 Grass Dancing.  Elements of Northern Grass Dance steps songs, and outfits.
  14 Foot Wear.  Different styles of moccasins will be discussed and how to make them.
  15 Chokers, Breastplates, Bandoliers.  How to make them and where to get the materials.  Discussion on what is right for each of the styles of dance or ceremony.
  16 Ribbon Shirts.  How to make a ribbon shirt and where to get the materials.
  17 Leggings, Breechcloths, and Aprons.  Discussions on how to make them and what is right for your style of dance or ceremony.
  18 What is a warrior? Native American Warriors and how it pertains to you when dancing or performing ceremonies. (This Class will be taught at 9 am only)
  19 Team Singing and Drumming. Learn about the drum and the songs that go with it. 
  20 Quiver and Bow Cases.  This class will go through the steps to make a quiver and bow cases for both dance and ceremonial regalia.  The class will cover the different styles that were common on the historic Great Plains and Great Basin.
  21 Headwear. Bonnetts, trailers, turbins, and roaches will be demonstrated  and taught
  22 Lane Beading: This type of beading uses rows of seed beads to make the desired pattern.
    Loom Beading: With this type beading a very intricate pattern of  beadwork can be done.
    Peyote Beading: This type of beading is done on a round dowel and has a.slanting pattern.
    Edge Beading: This provides an edge to your project such as shirts, leggings, etc
  23 Wood Flutes: Learn about flutes and how to play them.
  24 Brain Tanning. Learn the basics of tanning hides using animal brains. 
  25 Fancy Dance: Learn Dance steps and proper outfit design
  26 Pow Wow Edict. – This class is for new dancers and spectators to familiarize them with what happens at a POWWOW and what is and is not acceptable while dancing
